Happy second day of Spring!
I am absolutely thrilled that springtime has officially come, despite what the weather man is currently saying! Perhaps it is my California upbringing, but I am truly not myself when it is dark and cold outside. Bring on the sunshine, I say! And while in the wintertime I am all about the tartan, the second the first day of spring hits I cannot get enough gingham! Truly, there is a section in my closet dedicated to it! The sweet, yet subtle pattern brings back so many lovely childhood memories of sunshine and summertime that I would wear it every day if I could!
This shirt from Banana Republic was purchased on a particularly freezing day in January when I-just-couldn’t-take-sweaters-any-longer. It has been patiently waiting for the day when flowers bloomed and told us that yes, warm weather would come again!
The tiny little pink print feels oh-so feminine, while the big bow cinches the waist to make the looser fit flattering to the figure!
And in case you are like me and dying for spring but the weather isn’t quite there yet, J. Crew thoughtfully created this cape-scarf situation. You know, for when the cherry blossoms are blooming in D.C. but the grass is all still dead? I’ve never understood how that worked.
I bought this two months ago and have worn it almost out. The camel color goes with everything and the pop of pink on the inside takes it from a winter item to a spring one. The sneaky little arm holes help keep this in place, but it can also be worn as a scarf when you need to put on an actual rain jacket. April showers and all, you know?
I recently wore it in Charleston and James said to me “I believe the pink side would go better with your outfit.” Is my husband a secret fashion blogger?
D.C., whenever you decide to warm up for good, I’ll be waiting!
